Friendster comes out of the wood work

The Adrant (http://www.adrants.com) blog posted some recent news today (http://www.adrants.com/2006/10/friendster-sharkle-get-political-with-vid.php) about Friendster.
Friendster (http://www.friendster.com) has decided to jump on the political bandwagon like many other social networking sites lately. They are partnering up with the video sharing social networking site, Sharkle (http://www.sharkle.com) to put on a "Political Video Contest" (http://friendster.sharkle.com) where Friendster members can upload videos in support of their favorite candidates.
Six videos will win a a number of prizes including $2,500 in cash, a $1,000 Sony video camera, and four $300 video iPods.
These videos of political expression will not only bring more traffic to both Friendster and Sharkle, but will promote the candidates that are spoken of. A strong video is able to encourage an undecided viewer to vote for a particular candidate. Companies such as Sony and Apple are also able to be promoted from this joint venture by being publicized as prizes.
What do you think? Would a convincing opinion video work as a strong promotional tool to sway you to vote for a certain candidate? Leave your opinion in a comment!
